There are so many pieces to the puzzle of life. The closer I get to figuring them out the more I realize how far I have yet to go.
I look at the world as a place where goodness SHOULD prevail, but so often does not. What's that old saying, one bad apple spoils the bunch? Ideas that seem so basic and obvious to me seem to ellude so many people. People's agendas get in the way of seeing the real truth.
For instance, we all say we want to be free, but what is freedom exactly? Is freedom in the mind of the beholder, or is it an actual thing? Many people say it's a God given right. Whether or not you believe in God, there are things around us we can touch and feel and all of it comes from the same place. We are all born on this planet the same way, and therefore, no one man is better, inherently, as a being, than someone else. Now through life they my prove themselves to be a poor excuse or great excuse for a person, but I'll save that for another discussion.
I believe that because a human being is a human being, no human has a right over another. I do believe social order is necessary, so within reason people need rules to follow, but to me it all leads back to the same thing, we all should be afforded the same freedom and rights and rules. This comes down to every human on earth until you get to the ones who hurt other people. Once you hurt someone, you are infringing on their right to freedom, therefore, to a certain extent, you forfeit your natural right to freedom.
It is hard to understand how one can stand for freedom, but then desire take other's freedom away. If you have a right to do something, so do I. I was created on this earth, just like you, and your freedom is my freedom. To the point, I think freedom IS a thing, but people turn it into an idea through our morality. I know I fit into that category just like everyone else, but I try my best to figure out what true freedom is. The world is far from a perfect place, and the goodness most of us desire may never prevail. However, if we all aim to treat others as though we all hold freedom in our hands, we can get close. I know we can. |
